My name is Susannah Alle. I am a certified feng shui consultant, an avid declutterer, and the owner of Healing Homes Feng Shui located in Raleigh, NC.

How did my interest in feng shui begin? I first discovered feng shui in the late 1990s and was instantly drawn to it. It was a time in my life when I felt that my life was living me rather than me living it. I found the idea that changing my environment could change my life empowering.

Fast forward ten years, I was married and living in China when I saw that a school for expats in Shanghai was offering a class in feng shui.  I immediately signed up. What better place to begin my feng shui journey than in the land of its origin? The introductory course was designed to give a basic overview of the fundamentals of feng shui, and it certainly whetted my appetite.

Upon returning to Raleigh, I decided it was time to get serious about feng shui. While still working my day job in IT, I began studying classical feng shui at the New York School of Feng Shui in New York City. After receiving my certification as a feng shui practitioner from that institution, I began to explore BTB feng shui, which embraces a more modern, westernized approach to this discipline. I enrolled in a course at Luminous Spaces, taught by Maureen Calamia, author of “Creating Luminous Spaces.” I was particularly drawn to Maureen’s program because of its focus on the importance of nature in our environments, something I too firmly believe in. Upon completion of the course, I received a certification recognized by the International Feng Shui Guild.

And where does decluttering enter into all of this? Pick up any feng shui book and you will read about how the first step to creating “good feng shui” is to declutter. It is also a step that I find fun. Yes, I admit it: I love to declutter!! And I love to help other people declutter because I know how good they will feel when their homes are neat and orderly, and the positive energy can start to flow freely again.
